about us
A life’s Mission
The Blue Ribbon Run, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was founded in 2011 to honor two Wilmington, North Carolina moms, Julie M. Brown and Christina Gianoplus, who both lost their battles at the young age of 41. The Blue Ribbon Run has established an endowment in their names at UNC-Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center in Chapel Hill to help fund research to find a cure for this third leading cause of cancer deaths.
At Blue Ribbon Run, it has become our life mission to make a difference in the lives of others.

A Community of Support
In addition to finding a cure and raising awareness, the Blue Ribbon Run is grateful to be able to partner with members of our community affected by colon cancer both financially and emotionally. Every dollar donated to the Blue Ribbon Run or made from the sponsors and participants of our race goes directly to the endowment and our community. Every member on our committee is a volunteer and has been directly affected by colon cancer.
